Multisensory Teaching Idea 1

Make a giant mat to ‘walk through’ the parts of the flowering plant.

  • A roll of cheap wall paper lining is great for this, or you can join together sheets of A3 paper.
  • Then, draw out your flowering plant, paint or colour it in.
  • Cut up some pieces of card and make labels with different coloured backgrounds for the male and female parts of the flower.
  • Then lay your cards in the right places on your huge plant.
  • How about using ‘Strawberry Shoelaces’ to use as arrows for your labels? These are great as you can eat them afterwards!
  • Don’t have any paper? How about using chalk to draw your huge flower outside? Make sure you ask permission first though!
  • You can then walk through your flowering plant and explain what happens in each place.

Fantastic!
